About Carry-On Compliance Checker
Your free, comprehensive tool for checking carry-on luggage compliance with airline size restrictions worldwide.
Our Mission
Traveling should be stress-free, not filled with worries about whether your carry-on bag will be accepted at the gate. We created the Carry-On Compliance Checker to eliminate that uncertainty by providing instant, accurate information about airline baggage policies from around the world.
Why We Built This Tool

Our tool consolidates baggage policies from over 100 airlines worldwide, making it easy to:
- Check if your bag meets size requirements for multiple airlines
- Compare policies across different carriers
- Get a compatibility score for your luggage
- Access official airline baggage policy links
- Plan your travel with confidence

🌍Filter by Region
Focus on specific regions or airlines relevant to your travel plans for targeted results.
What’s New
- Orientation-agnostic comparison: your bag can be rotated in any way. We sort both your bag’s dimensions and the airline’s limits and compare them element-by-element, so L/W/H labels don’t have to match (helps with airlines that publish H × W × L, e.g., Spirit).
- Linear-dimension airlines respected: when an airline uses a total linear dimension (L+W+H), we accept compliance if your sum is within the limit.
- Small tolerance: a 0.1" tolerance accounts for rounding/measuring variance near limits.
- Unit consistency: inputs, presets, results, and SEO now reflect the unit you pick (inches or cm).
- Strict orientation (per airline): some airlines require exact order matching (no rotation). We respect this with a per-airline
strictOrientation
flag. - Per-airline tolerance: airlines can override the default tolerance via
epsOverride
to better reflect their enforcement thresholds. - Shareable URLs: your dimensions, unit, and selected airline are encoded in the URL for easy sharing and bookmarking.
How It Works (Under the Hood)
1) Unit normalization
We store airline data in inches. Whatever unit you choose in the form, we normalize to inches for the comparison, then display results back in your chosen unit.
2) Orientation-agnostic fit
We sort your three sides and the airline’s three sides ascending and compare side-by-side with a small tolerance. That means 17.5 × 13 × 7 will be checked against 22 × 18 × 10 in any rotation.
3) Linear-dimension rule
For airlines flagged as using linear dimensions, we check only that L+W+H ≤ airline limit (plus tolerance), which mirrors how those policies are enforced.
4) Tolerance
We apply a 0.1" tolerance to avoid false negatives caused by rounding and small measuring differences.
Data Freshness
Accessibility
We’ve improved keyboard navigation and screen reader support with ARIA roles for tabs and tab panels, clear labels and helper text on form fields, and an aria-live
region for Fit Score updates.
Additional enhancements like focus states, fieldset/legend groupings, and better color contrast make the app more usable for everyone.
